NATURE

In nature on can experience the rawest of emotions.

Everything from serentity to rage to excitement and to fear.

My focus is currently on the beauty one finds in nature.

But I look forward to exploring the other side of nature as well!

Varkore vir Zelda

Acrylic on A4 hardboard canvas.

This Arum Lilly painting was done for my brother's wife, Zelda, as a birthday gift.

This piece inspired the bouquet collection.

Bouquet Collection

Life is like a bouquet. Different flowers creating a glorious mix of colour and intoxicating fragrance.

These are a tribute to the people that make my bouquet not only memorable, but beautiful as well.

There are several pieces that needs to be added to the collection before it will be complete.

Anelda (March 2017)

A5 Acrylic on hardboard canvas

Anelda has been my best friend since we were 16 years old. We met as we attempted to compete in our high school's talent competition. It did not go well.

A year as Au-pairs in Holland, a few years of studying, working, a month long trip to America and few tertiary degrees later, we are still friends.

She chose a rose as her favourite "outside flower". Which I think was an excellent choice since a rose is almost as beautiful as she is.

Alta (May 2017)

20cm Diameter Acrylic on stretched canvas

My mother is a irreplaceable pillar of strength in my life. And has as a colourful soul as a Bird of Paradise (Strelitzia).

She has fully supported me and yet managed to supply the much needed critique regarding my work as an artist and more.

Without her I would undoubtedly be a different person than I am today.

Danél (June 2017)

35,5cm x 25,5cm Acrylic on hardboard canvas

Danél, myself and 3 other friends were known as "the Fab 5" whilst we studied together at the University of Pretoria.

During my first and second year I practically lived with Danél. I love her down to earth, no nonsense personality. What you see is what you get.

Just like a protea she is a beautiful soul, with no unnecessary frills and ribbons.

Lizahn (Aug 2017)

21cm x 25cm Acrylic on hardboard canvas

Lizahn is another member of "the Fab 5", my varsity acquired friends.

During our years at university, we steadily grew into vast friends. Lizahn has always been able to shock me with the in depth understanding she has of my heart and mind.

If not for her input I would not be married to my husband at the moment!

This baberton daisy portrays the sense of calm I feel whenever we have discussed a matter that had been preying on my mind!

Booitjie (Afrikaans for a small boat/vessel)

A4 Watercolour on paper

As explained in my introduction, this was my very first watercolour!
