Anmari de Wet (nè Engelbrecht)
I started sketching during a gap year in Holland.

Fresh out of high school, unsure about the future, and since I had never been outside of South Africa before 2006, also bombarded with new ideas, morals and social norms.
Home sickness, unusual weather and boredom sparked a conversation with a remarkable woman, Kotie van Aswegen. She prompted me to start sketching and eventually managed to convince me to attempt a watercolour.

That watercolour is the art feature of this page.
I learned how to express cropped up emotion using any creative medium I could get my hands on. I also discovered an unrelenting love for creation. There is nothing that I haven't dabbled in. The list of arts I have attempted includes soap and paper making, mosaics, sketching, dancing, baking, upholstery, poetry, carpentery and obviously, painting.
My dream is to leave an impression. I am by no means the van Gogh of the modern era. But, by expressing my thoughts, feellings and convictions with these various mediums, I hope to provide a small measure of joy and inspiration to others.
