HANDS

In God's hands

Acrylic on stretched canvas, 76cm x 102cm

In 2008 the pastor of our church contacted me with a daring challenge.

He wanted me to paint whilst he was preaching. A painting that visualised what I interpreted and felt as he was talking.

This was the result.

Needless to say, I had only done the basic outlines and main theme of the work. I filled in the detail later.

The importance of taking time to be quiet and to be in the presence of God.

Regardless of how extreme the raging storms surrounding us are, we are safe within God's hands.

Freedom

My father requested this painting.

He had seen a similar painting elsewhere but did not like the composition nor the colours thereoff.

I took the time to research all the different butterflies one can find in the world. All of the butterflies (except the purple ones! I was in a mood to add purple) on this canvas can be found. If your search is dedicated enough.

My personal favourite is the Glass wing Butterfly sitting on the left thumb.
